Hi I'm Mandy and welcome to Mandy's Designer Jewellery. I am a small and growing business based in Bargara near Bundaberg, Queensland. I love the sun, beach and the climate here and experiencing the taste sensations of the different types of great foods grown in our local area. And oh yes, I love my Falcon ute!
I was born in Melbourne and spent most of my childhood in Lightning Ridge, NSW. I've also lived in a number of other great places like Quilpie, Coober Pedy, Gold Coast, Kalgoorlie and Townsville.
I’ve been in the Jewellery Industry for over 28 years. My inspiration to become a Jeweller came from both my parents being in the Opal Industry. I’m dedicated to Jewellery excellence and very particular when it comes to the design, flow, quality and finish of my work. I make sure that the quality of materials and gemstones I use are the best.
I was trained in Townsville by a Master Jeweller, Allan Birch. Allan is my greatest mentor, and friend. I won "Apprentice of the Year" four years in a row and then the "Best Apprentice in the Jewellery Industry" award from a field of 127 participants.
I've owned and operated 4 Jewellery businesses over the years. And I have had the honour of being the Senior Judge (twice) for the prestigious "International Opal Jewellery Design Awards" alongside other World renound Jewellers. I've also represented Australia overseas with my Jewellery, which was an absolute honour.
Over the years, I've won 13 first prizes in Jewellery competitions, and two Equal seconds ... which makes me feel incredibly proud.
The great thing about having my website is that I can finally share my Quality Fine Jewellery with the World. As well as the magnificent finished Jewellery pieces you see now on my website, I have so many other designs drawn. I just don’t know which one to start making first!
My Mum and Dad (Gina and Matthew), gave me my first insight into the Gem, Mining Industry, and its people that can never be learnt from a book... it has to be experienced. And it is this knowledge and experience that I will be passing on to you through my newsletters.

I asked Mandy to create an individual piece of jewellery for my girlfriends birthday and from the very basic idea I gave her of a butterfly motive in gold with an opal as the feature, she came up with the uniquely designed pendant that is close to my girlfriends heart. Literally, as she wears it everyday now. I couldn't be happier with the design, the opal, or the pendant!

About Linda
I have lived my whole life at the doorstep to the Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia. As a result I carry many beautiful seaside memories with me in a sentimental suitcase of oceanic symbols. These personal symbols, such as swirls, shells or sea creatures have, over time, imprinted special virtuous meanings or stories upon my creative mind. The simple swirl, for example, is my personal symbol for Harmony.
When I was approached to design this jewellery series, it felt like a coming together of many unique ingredients. Australian Opal, a beautiful, colour - rich and very unique gemstone makes it's mark in every design. Sometimes bold and bright, sometimes soft and seductive in colour, nature guarantees that no two are ever the same.
The Great Barrier Reef, a Heritage Listed National Marine Park, is equally unique in every possible shape, colour and creature. So it seems appropriate that the designs should also be very unique and tell a story of their own.
I like to think of these Designs as more than just a piece of jewellery. To me, they represent a precious piece of Australian energy, something sacred, something to remind the wearer of their own uniqueness and loving spirit.
This energy has made it's journey from Outback Australia to be harnessed into a beautiful timeless piece of jewellery. Through this range, we are completely dedicated to sharing this beauty and the rarity of the Australian Opal with the World.
Mandy Healey, the Master Jeweller, has respectfully given my original designs the technical breath of "life". She has spent equal parts of her life at the Opal fields of Outback Australia and also on the coastal regions of the Great Barrier Reef, which has given her a very balanced approach. Mandy and I met at Jewellery Technical College and have always had an unspoken connection that translates easily from designer to jeweller.
In this range I have used the symbology of the Reef and the beauty of Opal to communicate virtues that are important to me such as Love, Peace, Harmony and Healing. It is my desire that the wearer of this Range of Jewellery feel this positive energy that we have collectively infused into each piece.
